Community Various developments are slated to support the industrial, commercial, and residential growth of the area. Some of these developments are listed below.
Universal Health Services Hospital development is to be completed by 2010. It will boast 206 beds to start. The project will cost an estimated $160M for the 350K sq ft facility, and stand 7 stories tall.
In support of the Hospital development, the Denison Fire Department will have new facilities for the South Denison Fire District Station 3 with a new 105ft + aerial ladder truck. The new facility will be in place for the completion of the Hospital development.
South Pointe, “Gateway to Denison”, will be across Highway 75 from the new Hospital. It will boast significant development of retail strips, and residential development.
Preston Point is a scheduled $1B development project on FM-84 toward Grandpappy Point. It is slated to be one-third age targeted housing, one-third primary residential housing, 15% hotel and high end retail, with approximately 20% golf oriented development including 3 golf courses including boating and greenbelt. It is a public/private venture.
The Denison School District has plans for a new High School to start construction in 2010, this may be delayed for up to two years dependent on demographic changes.
